  • The racquet is the main piece of equipment you use in badminton. It's basically a stick with some strings on it that you hit with your hand to hit the shuttlecock. You can choose between two different types of racquets: an open-stringed racquet (the most common type) or a closed-stringed racquet. The open-stringed racquet is better for beginners because it's easier to control and makes less noise than the closed-stringed racquet.
  • The shuttlecock is the round object you hit with your racquet to play badminton. It has two feathers on one end and is made out of cork or rubber. When hit correctly, the shuttlecock will go into the ground net.
  • To play badminton, you'll also need some ground netting so that when the shuttlecock goes into it, it won't get caught on anything else and fall out of the frame.
